Pre-Marital Sex

Why Must I Not Get Involved In Sex Before Marriage,
What Does The Bible Say About It?

One of the most talked about subjects in today’s culture is sex and yet it is probably one of the least talked about in our churches. Is it any wonder that the next generation has adopted the values of the “world” rather than those of the church when it comes to sex?
The world’s way is, practise safe sex, while God’s way is abstinence. Abstinence is the practice of not allowing yourself to do something for moral, religious or health reasons. God’s standard has never changed and it will never change even if the world refuses to follow it, it is non-negotiable.
Sex is a gift from God and He made it for enjoyment and for procreation. It was to be the ultimate integrating expression of two persons united physically, psychologically, and spiritually in marriage and it is superior to the whole world’s shallow and superficial initiative. God clearly makes His will known in Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” “Adulterers” are those who have made a marriage commitment, then indulge in sexual relationships that violate their commitment. Adultery is sexual intercourse between a married person and somebody who is not their husband or wife.
Marriage is a covenant (Mal.2:14b), this is the secret that ensures the success of the marriage relationship. A covenant is a commitment which God initiates. God initiated marriage by bringing Eve to Adam.
Marriage establishes a covenant relationship, sealed by the sexual union. When a man and a woman get married as virgins, they have their first intimate sexual experience; the hymen of the wife is broken. This causes blood to be shed and to God this is the evidence that the couple have entered into a covenant relationship. This blood covenant relationship is symbolic of the type of covenant God entered into with Abraham in Genesis chapter15:9-21 and between God and us His people through the shedding of Jesus’ blood (Hebrew10:10, 14; 8:6).
When you decide to go into premarital sex,
  1. You are disobedient to God.
  2. You are conforming to the values of the world ( Rom 12:2; 1John 2:15-16; James 4:4).
  3. You are not loving God (John 14:23).
  4. You are ignoring the clear teachings of the Bible.
  5. You are yielding to the desires of the flesh.
  6. You are given the devil a “doorway” into your life.
God designed the Church to consist of people who are “called out” from the world. We are called to live separate and holy lives. We are the SALT of the earth. We are the Light of the world. We are to transform the world and not reflect the culture of the world. Matt 5:13 says, “Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” Read 1Thessalonians 4:3-5: Apostle Paul encourages us in 1Thesselonians 4:1 – that we should please God and tells us what the will of God is. Verse 3 and 4 says “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour.” Committing fornication is a sin. Fornication is a sin against God. The prostitute, the girl/boy or man/woman who has sexual intercourse with a person they are not married to, the one who even has plans to marry and is not yet married, they all have one thing in common: fornication. It is a sin against God, His word and His will.
